Foreword
In some cases, you may have to update the Sentinel RMS License Server:
- compatibility with the OS update
- compatibility with the client application
- ...
Prerequisites
- You have prepared the new version of the Sentinel RMS License Server Manager installation program.
- You have prepared WlmAdmin to check the license server status and registered licenses.
WlmAdmin is part of the Sentinel RMS Tools package.
SentinelRMS x.y.z-WlmAdmin package and Sentinel RMS License Server Manager installation program can be downloaded from Download page
This update is a simple procedure that should only take a few minutes.
Even if it can be seamless, it is recommended to do this update without any user connected with an application using the license server.
Scenario 1 - Uninstall and install
- Make a backup copy of the Sentinel RMS license file. This file saves the registered licenses.
- Uninstall current version of Sentinel RMS License Server
- Install new version of Sentinel RMS Server
- If you have selected the same installation folder as the previous version, you should automatically recover licenses.
Check with WlmAdmin if licenses are still registered.
If not, register them using the backup copy.
Scenario 1 - Upgrade
- Make a backup copy of the Sentinel RMS license file. This file saves the registered licenses.
- Install the new version of Sentinel RMS License Server. During the installation procedure, you should have a message asking to stop current service.
- Check with WlmAdmin if licenses are still registered. If not, register them using the backup copy.
Note
License server configuration is saved in a text file named "lservrc"
